To celebrate the 24th annual Lights on Afterschool Day (October 26th, 2023) we hosted a virtual Lunch & Learn! The event featured panelists from the communities spotlighted in the MT Afterschool Community Spotlight Report, who presented the successful partnerships they have created between afterschool programs, school districts, summer camps, and community organizations.

The Afterschool Alliance has a comprehensive list of tools, ideas and materials to help you design and host an event tailored to your program and community, including sample press releases and customizable information sheets to share with attendees or to drop in the mail for those who can’t make it. Registering your event, here, means showcasing the work you are doing and the importance of out-of-school time care in Montana.

Promote Your Event - Thinking of celebrating Lights On Afterschool? We want to see it! Here are some ideas:

  • Press Release - Include high resolution pictures of your program!

  • Posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - Use the hashtag #LightsOnAfterschool and tag MTAA @mtafterschool so we can see it!

  • Invitations to local school staff, administration, and community leaders!

MTAA’S 2022 Lights on Afterschool Celebration!

Governor Gianforte officially announced October 17-22, 2022 as Lights On Afterschool Week in Montana. Read the proclamation here!

Governor Gianforte attended the Lights on Afterschool open house at Jefferson Elementary School. The event helped celebrate School Age Child Care (SACC)’s 30th anniversary, and Montana Afterschool Alliance’s 10th anniversary.
